Cottage industry….

In addition to our small scale farming activities and horticultural pursuits, Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry supports some of our programming with Cottage Industries as a means of creating a sustainable program.  We are selling several horticultural related products made from the plants we have grown in our gardens.

Our products are for sale in the Our Local Foods Country store on Thornhill Farm, and from time-to-time at local events. We also plan to offer these items for sale online, so check back if you’re not in the area. If you are in the area, drop in to see whats available or sign up for our newsletter (see the right sidebar) and we’ll update you as new products, or retail outlets carrying our products, become available.   • Organic Seed Starting Soil Mix

Our very own organic soil mix from a secret family recipe!  It contains all the good stuff your baby plants need to grow.

  • Germination Paper

We’ve taken paper making one step farther and embedded the seeds for your garden in it!  That’s right! Our Germination Paper comes in sheets with a variety of seeds embedded right in the paper. No more trying to seed all those teeny tiny seeds.  Just tear off a few squares of our germination paper and cover them with soil and water.  Then sit back and watch your garden grow!

Varieties vary by season, so please email/call/stop by to find out what’s in stock. Typically, we have ornamental flower seeds and edible vegetable seeds suitable for the time of year.

  • Birdhouse Gourds

Gourds grown here on the farm, converted to bird houses with original artwork painted on… very well done and suitable for any location in your yard!

  • Herbal Soap and Luffa Gardeners Soap

We at Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry are a squeaky clean bunch! We have been having so much fun experimenting with all of the herbs in our herb garden and adding them to our glycerin soap mixes.  These beautiful soap mixes smell good and do the job!

The Luffa Gardeners Soap is one of our specialties (and our favorite).  We embed the luffa right in the middle of these unique and efficient soaps!  We are growing luffa right here in the Adaptive Garden, too!
